Our lucerne mix is a perfect product to increase the eating time of concentrated feed whilst providing your horse with valuable nutrients including:

The addition of this fibrous roughage also slows down the passage rate in the intestine to promote proper absorption of nutrients from the concentrated feeds.
These nutrients are naturally present in the lucerne plant which makes the lucerne mix suitable for all horses. But, especially for horses which benefit from additional roughage in their diet and horses who benefit from additional nutrients without increasing or adding concentrated feeds.

Feeding Advice
In addition to sufficient water and roughage we suggest:
- 250-600g Lucerne mix per 100 kg body weight
For example 1 feeding scoop is +/- 250g
What is the difference between Lucerne mix and the Digest?The main difference between these two products is that the Digest is enriched with many additives to support the digestive system of your horse. Next to this, the Lucerne mix consists mainly out of Lucerne while the Digest is a mixture of different types of roughage. Why is the molasses added to the Lucerne mix?The addition of molasses has two big benefits: lucerne is not that tasty and by adding the molasses the lucerne becomes sweeter and will be eaten easier by your horse. But also, because molasses is kind of sticky which ensures that the lucerne leaves “stick” to the stem. These lucerne leaves contain all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Even with the molasses the Lucerne mix only contains 6-7% of sugar which is lower than the average hay or silage. How do I feed the Lucerne mix?This is dependent on what kind of horse you have, and which benefit you want to have from the Lucerne mix! The Lucerne mix is ideal to mix with concentrates to make sure your horse takes his or her time when eating, but also to create more chewing movements which ensure the production of saliva which has several benefits. Next to this, you can give the Lucerne mix as a source of protein for muscle building and maintenance.
