FAQ’S

In what form can I expect my dried product (from wage drying) back?

At Hartog we deliver all our products to any address you want. And in any form you want: large or small bales, chunks, bagged or loose. Also, we provide these products directly from our own harvest. Please go to our Hartog webshop to check out our products.

How does (contract) grass drying work?

If you have your own grassland or alfalfa field, you can have your crop dehydrated by Grasdrogerij Hartog. Anyone who opts for artificially drying grass automatically opts for risk-free forage harvesting. As an entrepreneur you want to make optimal use of your own feed production. Grasdrogerij Hartog will be happy to help you (contract) dry your own crop. We deliver the dried product to your home in bales or chunks. For more information about the process please go to our grass drying webpage.

What are the costs of drying?

The rates of contract drying depend on the distance of your farm from the dehydration unit and the form in which you want the grass to be returned. The rates apply up to 70% moisture, with every 5% increase in moisture a surcharge is added to the price per kg of dried product. If you mow and winnow wind-dried then the value remains below 70% moisture. For more information about the current prices, please contact us.

How does contract cultivation work?

With contract cultivation (alfalfa or grass) the entire process from sowing to distribution to the end user is managed by Grasdrogerij Hartog. The crops are mainly grown on heavy calcareous clay in the Wieringermeer. After careful selection of the growers (mainly arable farmers), sowing takes place with the varieties chosen by Hartog.

What types of feed are available for poultry?

Compact Lucerne, Compact Lucerne EKO and Compact Lucerne Easy. Our lucerne has a high fibre content and it also stimulates natural pecking behaviour. As a result, the chicken will be less bored and will behave more naturally. In addition, our feed net is a handy tool to reduce waste and to increase the intake of Lucerne.

What types of feed are available for cattle?

For calves, there is a custom-made Lucerne Mix. This is a high-fiber roughage mix that consists of young and freshly raked alfalfa, mixed with green-harvested cut oats and clover components. This combination guarantees increased energy content and reduced levels of balanced, fully digestible protein.
